Get Ready for Fun with Georgia Power and Tallulah Gorge State Park

Paddlers, kayakers and outdoor lovers -- get ready for the ultimate recreation experience. Georgia Power’s North Georgia Whitewater is releasing into Tallulah Gorge during selected weekends in April and November. Access to the releases is open to the public.

Join Georgia Power and volunteer boating organizations for all the excitement at Tallulah Gorge State Park the first two weekends in April and the first three weekends in November.

Camping

If you're looking for a great place to go camping, North Georgia is ideal.

From Tugalo Park to Seed Campground, you'll find great campsites, swimming, boating and fishing — there's something for everyone to enjoy. Nearby Tallulah Gorge is a popular destination for campers who can enjoy sliding down the waterfall or hiking across the famous Tallulah Falls suspension bridge. It's also one of the most spectacular canyons in the Southeast.

Tugalo Park on Lake Yonah

Tugalo Park on Lake Yonah
Due to planned maintenance work at Tugalo Dam, Tugalo Park will be closed from Oct 18, 2021 through 2026 per FERC Order for Project No. 2354-151

 

Tugalo Park at Lake Yonah offers primitive campsites, picnicking, restrooms and a boat launching ramp. Tugalo Park is handicapped accessible.

Local Points of Interest

Tallulah Gorge Interpretive Center

The center showcases exhibits and provides a rich history of the area and earned the 2013 Certificate of Excellence. Visit the gift shop for snacks, jewelry, toys, books, walking sticks, clothing and more. There is a parking fee of $5 for each vehicle. The fee includes access to the Interpretive Center, the beach, tennis courts, bike trails and walking trails.

Helen, GA

Helen is a Bavarian town about 30 miles away from Tallulah Gorge. It is a re-creation of an alpine village and features cobblestone alleys and old-world gift shops. Enjoy food, shopping and spectacular mountain views. Anna Ruby Falls State Park is also a local tourist attraction.

Foxfire Museum

Visit Mountain City and take a walk through the past at the Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center. Take a look at homes, tools, trades and crafts of the nearly-extinct pioneer culture of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

Fishing

Beautiful trails surround the lakes and rivers in North Georgia, making it one of the most picturesque locations for fishing.

Fishing is regulated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and requires a fishing license or permit. Licenses can be purchased locally at sporting goods stores, convenience stores and marinas, or by visiting the Department of Natural Resources website.
